Growing in Faith and Discipleship

The heart of a parish is its religious education programs. To the extent that these programs are vibrant and on-going, to that extent will the parish be responsive to the Gospel challenge: "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations…teach them to observe all that I have commanded you" (Mt. 28:19-20). As Christians and members of God's family, we are called to deepen our faith in the ways of Jesus Christ and to further the mission of the Church. To perform these tasks it is necessary that we continually educate ourselves in God's Word, as revealed in Scripture, and in the teachings of the Church.

Our mission in the Adult Religious Education Program is to achieve four fundamental objectives:

  • To help individuals and communities to understand and live the Gospel to the fullest possible extent.
  • To prepare believers to exercise a prophetic voice in today's world, to bring the light of the Gospel to bear on the issues of the time.
  • To aid adults in sharing their faith with the next generation.
  • To foster in adults a continual desire to study the Bible and to pursue a deeper theological knowledge through courses on God, the world, Jesus, and the Church.

To meet these objectives, the parish will offer some courses during the fall and spring. Also, it will offer some lecture series during Advent and Lent. Courses and lectures will be presented by qualified teachers.
